The Leesburg, Georgia, community is mourning the tragic loss of Caiden Michael Gibson, a 20-year-old apprentice lineman who died following a workplace accident on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. City of Albany officials confirmed his death and stated that the incident remains under investigation.

According to the City of Albany, Gibson was employed as an apprentice lineman with the Utility Operations Department, having joined the department in September 2024. Officials described him as a dedicated employee, father, friend, and valued member of the city’s workforce. The city has not publicly released details regarding the exact circumstances of the accident.

Born on May 31, 2005, in Albany, Georgia, Caiden was a lifelong resident of the area and lived in Leesburg. His obituary describes him as a hardworking young man who loved the outdoors, especially duck hunting, riding ATVs, and spending time with family and friends.

Caiden is survived by his wife, Bella Knox, and their young son, Cotton Michael Gibson, whom family members said he adored. He is also survived by his father, Randy Gibson; brothers Bryer, Blake, and Dallas; grandparents; extended family members; and many close friends.

Visitation for Caiden Gibson is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home in Leesburg. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the funeral home’s chapel, with interment to follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
